Chiropractic Techniques Offered By Dr. Orwick
Diversified - this is general osseous adjusting
Thompson Drop - Gentle table assisted adjusting.
SOT (sacral occipital technique) - which includes blocking and cranial adjustments (subtle movement of the bones of the head and face)
Activator - which is gentle adjusting assisted by a clicking tool used primarily for infants, the elderly, and extremities.
Applied Kinesiology - Muscle testing to determine the kind of adjustment you need.
Upper Cervical - Adjusting the upper neck with a drop table.
Gonstead - which is firm chiropractic adjusting
Adjustor Tool - This is an electro magnetic (tap-tap-tap) tool that allows Dr. Orwick to make adjustments that were not possible before by replacing force with velocity. It works by stimulating the receptors of the spine. This gentle yet specific adjustment is particularly beneficial for children and elderly patients.
Therapies used by Dr. Orwick and Staff
Flexion-distraction table - A moving table that is used to open the spine, making adjusting easier and bringing nutrition to the discs.
Spinalator table - A table that you lie on and it rolls up your spine. It stimulates the receptors and locks your adjustment into the nervous system.
Interferential - Electric therapy that relaxes the muscle, gets the swelling out, kicks in your natural pain relief chemicals, (endorphins and encephalin), makes more ATP and protein to expedite healing.
Ultrasound - Sound wave therapy for deep muscle relaxation.
Percussor Tool - Tight muscles can prevent the vertebrae from moving while doing an adjustment. The Percussor is a small, powerful massager tool that vibrates on a certain frequency that releases stiffness of the Fascia, the band of fibrous connective tissue enveloping, separating, or binding together muscles, organs, and other soft structures of the body. Patients are getting phenomenal results with conditions such as TMJ and Plantar Facitis using the Percussor tool.
Deep Muscle Stimulator- This is a fairly new modality used by professional Sports Trainers, Physical Therapists, and Physiatrists that provides a deep massaging of the muscles to release trigger points.
Benefits from the Deep Muscle Stimulator include:
Relaxation of tight muscles
Faster rehabilitation from injuries
Increased flexibility, endurance and speed
Breaks up muscle scar tissue
Reduced lactic acid build up
Increased lymphatic flow
Cold Laser Therapy- Erchonia PL 5000 Low Frequency Cold Laser is the only FDA approved cold laser. Although people rarely feel it you can definitely experience the results in as little as 10 minutes. During your visit we will do a 10 minute demonstration. We measure range of motion (ROM) and muscle strength before and after the laser treatment. 90-95% of people discover they have increased ROM in each direction by 2-7 degrees and see weak muscles become stronger. Muscle strength is a reflection of nerve conduction or interference. It is proving to be very helpful for all kinds of difficult cases like carpal tunnel, TMJ, Frozen Shoulder, Osteoarthritis, as well as the basic strain/sprains and neck/back pain. The laser is cutting edge technology and utilizes Quantum Physics principals. To learn more about his amazing new addition to our practice, click here to read Dr. Orwick’s Laser Article. Kinesio Taping- The Kinesio Taping Method is one of the latest methods used by Olympic athletes. It involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist, give support or prevent over-contraction. Kinesio taping alleviates pain and promotes lymphatic drainage which in turn takes pressure and irritation off neural/sensory receptors. In addition, it improves range of motion, circulation and supports muscles. Myofacial Release & Trigger Point Therapy - Hands on therapy used to release the fascia and toxins.
InfraRed – Deep heat with infra red waves is used to decrease swelling and inflammation, to relax muscles, increase circulation and facilitate detoxification. Intra cellular toxins like substance P, prostaglandin E2, luekotreins cause pain.
